4th Grade Dot Paintings

In this lesson, students explored the concept of radial symmetry by creating dot-based flower paintings on black paper. They observed and referenced images of real flowers to guide their compositions, paying attention to how natural patterns radiate from a central point. The flowers were outlined in white to make them stand out clearly, and students used warm and cool color palettes to create contrast between the flower and the background. Through this process, students developed their observational drawing skills and deepened their understanding of how color and symmetry appear in both nature and art.
